If I see one more blog post, email or magazine article about the perfect Super Bowl snacks, I may just have to disconnect from media until Monday morning. Now don’t get me wrong. I love a good head-bashing, concussion-causing sport as much as the next girl (not really :); but I’ve had enough of the chili variations, veggie tray options and potato chip replacements to last at least until next year’s bowl game season.
In truth, any food can be a Super Bowl food. I’m fairly certain, though, that hard core football fans don’t really taste what they’re eating as they sit – glued to the television – waiting for a dramatic touchdown that sends chips flying like in all the commercials – or this year – for one of the Harbaugh brothers to diss the other. OY – the DRAMA!
Therefore, if my theory is correct and the taste buds go on hiatus during such intense games, why not save the good food for those of us choosing activities that actually allow us to sip, savor, smile and escape the cold arctic air and manly endeavors – even if it’s just for an afternoon. Below are a number of my favorite recipes from Fit Foodista’s archives that might just offer a glimpse of sunshine and smiles – and still leave you time to run into the living room for the commercials :)
